She just decided to take a driving instructor course
Today we introduce Maria V., another extraordinary woman who found her way out of poverty and became an independent person. Maria is forty-four years old, has three children and has just celebrated the first anniversary of her own business. Three years ago, Maria decided she had to change her life and enrolled on a driving instructor courses in her hometown. At that time, she worked half-time as a bus driver. She was a single parent of three teenage children and the company she worked for didnt pay very well. ?We had to live in a rented bedsitter without hot water or central heating, she says. Maria was fed up with her situation. One of her friends, who always believed Maria was a very good driver, persuaded her to take a driving instructor course. At first, Maria was not convinced, but after just a few weeks, she turned out to be the best student in the group. She passed her tests first time round and after a few months she started her own business, a local driving school, which is now thriving. She says that taking the driving instructor course was the best decision she has ever made. Now, she is teaching her teenage children to drive. She says one of her daughters might become a professional instructor, too.
